According to a recent report by the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University, homeowners spent an estimated $420 billion on home remodeling in 2020, a gain of 3% compared to 2019 spending. This figure includes $281 billion spent on homeowner improvements, $71 billion spent on homeowner maintenance, and $81 billion spent on rental improvements and maintenance. The report notes that 2020 was the tenth consecutive year of expansion for the home improvement industry.
