According to results from this week’s study, 20% of all respondents say that social media frequently influences their home improvement purchases. Translating this to bodies means that social media frequently influences the home improvement purchases of approximately 37 million U.S. consumers over the age of 18. (Note: Nearly 184 million Americans over the age of 18 use at least one social media site.) As expected, there is significant generational bias to the influence of social media. 38% of online Millennials and 31% of Gen X say that social media frequently influences their home improvement purchases. However, only 2% of Boomers say the same.
