Walmart

A recent report from Edge by Ascential forecasts that overall online sales in the U.S. will grow from $710.7 billion in 2020 to more than $1.2 trillion by 2025. It also expects Amazon to overtake Walmart as the largest U.S. retailer in 2025, with Amazon’s sales forecasted at $632 billion compared to Walmart’s $523 billion. The challenge for Walmart is ecommerce, and this challenge became even more important because of the pandemic. While Walmart’s ecommerce sales are forecast to double from $43.6 billion in 2020 to $87.5 billion in 2025, they will represent approximately 16.7% of the company’s total retail sales. And they are a fraction of what Amazon racks up online.
