Online Holiday Shopping

Last year, big-box retailers such as Walmart and Target started their holiday promotions in October, in part to offset the impact of Amazon Prime Day, which moved from its traditional summer date to October due to the pandemic. Despite these early holiday promotions, consumers spent $10.8 billion on Cyber Monday, setting the record for the biggest online shopping day in U.S. history. Given the potential impact that COVID-19 could have on this year’s holiday season, the importance of Cyber Monday – and online sales in general – could be significant for many retailers.
