There are 44 million renter households in the U.S.. According to Realtor.com, the national median rent in July reached $1,879/month, which is an increase of 12.3% from July 2021 and 23% from July 2020. Over half of the respondents expect their rent to increase in 2023 which will make the path to home ownership an ever increasing challenge to millions of those renters. Beyond next year almost half of our respondents expect it take up to 3-5 years for them to purchase their first home.
